Surveillance of Work-Related Crushing Injuries in Michigan

Work-related crushing injuries are serious but potentially preventable injuries. In Michigan, surveillance for work-related crushing injuries began in 2013. Records from all Michigan's hospitals/emergency departments, the Workers' Compensation Agency and death certificates are used to identify work-related crushing injuries. The Michigan work-related crushing injury surveillance system allows the State to identify causes of work-related crushing injuries, target interventions to reduce future crushing injuries and evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions.
