PESTICIDE illness and INJURY

Work-Related Surveillance of Pesticide Exposure

Michigan’s Pesticide Illness and Injury Surveillance Program gathers reports of pesticide exposures that result in acute illnesses and injuries and provides Michigan citizens with reliable information to understand and safely use pesticides. Surveillance and prevention activities of occupational pesticide illnesses and injuries began in 2001, allowing us to identify root causes and share information with stakeholders. The surveillance program is funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and is a joint research project of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Michigan State University Division of Human Medicine's Occupational and Environmental Medicine
